CNaVT (Certificaat Nederlands als Vreemde Taal)

  • The CNaVT is an official exam that assesses Dutch language skills from A2 to C1 on the CEFR scale.

    It tests listening, reading, writing (completed on paper), and speaking, which is conducted face-to-face with an examiner for a realistic evaluation of oral communication. Results are typically available 4 to 6 weeks after the exam.

Certification test – Huis van het Nederlands 

  • This test assesses Dutch language skills for professional or academic purposes. It begins with a digital multiple-choice section. If you pass this first part, you’ll move on to written and spoken expression tasks.

    Results are usually available within 10 days after the exam.

Atlas Language Certification Tests

  • Atlas offers certified language tests for levels A1/A2 and B1/B2, often required for procedures such as applying for Belgian nationality, employment or academic purposes.

    The test evaluates listening and reading comprehension (computer-based), as well as speaking and writing skills (paper-based).

    Results are typically available within three weeks.

ITNA (Interuniversity Dutch Language Test for Non-Native Speakers)

  • The ITNA is an official test intended for prospective non-Dutch-speaking students who wish to enroll at a university in the Flemish Community. It assesses language proficiency at level B2 of the CEFR.

    The test evaluates listening comprehension, reading, written expression (through an essay), as well as oral expression via an interview with an examiner. Passing the test demonstrates that you have the required language level to begin university studies in Dutch.

Dutch Exam – Travaillerpour.be (formerly Selor)

  • This free exam evaluates the four main language skills in Dutch: listening comprehension, reading comprehension, speaking, and writing. Listening and reading comprehension are computer-based, while speaking is assessed face-to-face with an examiner. This exam is recognized for Belgian public service positions. Results are typically available within 2 to 3 weeks after the exam.
